I’ve just returned home from Cineworld where I attended the third year film and video students’ Grad film screenings. It was great =] everyone was all dressed up and there was a mini red carpet and everything. Many of the actors and students’ families shown up as well a few second years.
The 12 groups screened 12 films created in the third year (there was even a compilation video at the end of their whole 3 years). I must say they’ve set the bar high for us next year because they were brilliant.
The stories and themes varied from astronauts to mental patients, from comedies to experimental film. The locations of the films really raised the mark and the cinematography was great. Some of the films that stood out most for me in terms of technical and narrative were.
But in all fairness I really enjoyed them all. It’s made me/us excited but I think more nervous about going into the third year. After the screenings we all gathered in the starbucks upstairs for networking plus we got a free drink =P. Following this they gave out awards for different categories which I think was a nice way to recognise the people that had put in a lot of films.
I think that is a nice way to end, if any so I will speak to you soon.
